Jumping into Life is een documentaire film over de leerlingen van de kunstschool Kuruka Maisha. De film biedt een intense en betrokken inkijk in het leven van jongeren in de sloppenwijken van Nairobi en werd geregisseerd en gefilmd door jongeren uit dezelfde sociale achtergrond. De film toont de vreugde en het plezier dat ze beleven aan hun eerste stappen op het podium, en laat tegelijkertijd de complexiteit zien van droom en ontgoocheling in de ontwikkeling van hun talenten als kunstenaar.

Voorstelling van de partners

Kuruka Maisha is een kunstschool voor de straatkinderen van Nairobi. De school biedt lessen aan in beeldende kunst en in podiumkunsten, zoals acrobatie, traditionele en hedendaagse Afrikaanse dans, drama, muziek, enz.

Mwelu Foundation is een organisatie voor jongeren gevestigd in de sloppenwijk Mathare Valley in Nairobi. Ze organiseert workshops in fotografie en video aan jongeren en probeert hen op de schoolbanken te houden. Meer info over Mwelu Foundation.
