BOZAR opens its doors to all audiences with Afropean+, an exceptional multidisciplinary event on the entire day of January 17th, celebrating Africa’s place in the Belgian and European cultural landscape. On this day, Afropean+ presents concerts by renowned artists, a stage set aside for young talents, not to mention films, debates, play readings, a craft fair, children’s entertainment, exhibitions and other activities all relating to the wealth of interculturality !

Africalia will present 2 activities : the launching of the Congolese comic book “Paul Panda Farnana, a forgotten life” and the Belgian premiere of the Kenyan documentary “Ni Kuruka Maisha – Jumping into Life”.

The comic strip “Paul Panda Farnana, une vie oubliée / Paul Panda Farnana, een vergeten leven” highlights the story of a remarkable man, one of the first Congolese who studied in Belgium and an ardent activist for the rights of his people. On the occasion of this album’s launch, two authors of the organisation BD Kin Label will sign autographs and sketch visitors at the Africalia stand.

Jumping into Life
is a feature documentary whose main characters are young adults attending the school of arts Kuruka Maisha. The film offers an intimate and intense look at the lives of young people in the slums of Nairobi. It shows all the joy and pleasure they experience discovering their talents as entertainers, but also suggests the complexity and sometimes their disappointment when they are faced with the expectations and dreams they had imagined this new profession would offer them.
