Bayimba is a multiple-branched organisation that focuses on uplifting arts and culture in Uganda through cultural exchange and creativity. Bayimba hosts high-quality arts festivals, offers training and workshops for aspiring artists and facilitates creative development.

The Foundation’s programmes and activities range from Bayimba International Festival Of The Arts, Dance Week Uganda, Kampala International Theatre Festival and Amakula International Film Festival.

Bayimba has also kick started a number of important market-oriented initiatives, such as DOADOA a regional platform for networking and joint learning for performing artists in East Africa.

Bayimba Academy is its education pillar with a mission to advance practical professional arts education and with a clear goal to become an established and accredited technical college which offers professional training for artists and cultural institutions.

Finally, the envisaged pinnacle of its organisational development is the Bayimba Centre. Plans are to build a world-class arts venue equipped for performing and visual arts, offering space for performance and exhibitions, as well as training and production.

Programme 2017-2021 : Africalia supports core staff costs and expenses related to core activities like Bayimba’s festivals or the development of the Academy and the Centre.
