Creating in the Post-colonial World
= 60 co-authors,
18 months of editorial process,
a journey full of encounters,
visions and suspense,
2 editors (BOZAR & Africalia) and a whole lot of
inalterable talent and resistance.
Directed by Sarah Demart (ULG/KU Leuven) and Gia Abrassart (Café Congo)
This work is where the academic, artistic and militant intersect. Some sixty participants gather in the aftermath of 50 years of Congolese Independence (2010) and consider the creative challenges for the diaspora, often overlooked by the old colonial metropolis Belgium.
Artists and actors of the cultural world who, during the five past years, were prominent in the Belgo-Congolese affairs lend their voice to this situated, critical and hybrid point of vue. It offers an insight into the theme of creating in the post-colonial world and defining the Afro-European identities in a racially defined society.
