Faced with the current situation, Africalia supports artists in their creative dynamic by setting up the "Creativity is life" grants in order to allow artists to continue to create.
These grants are intended to support artists in emergency and allow them to focus on the creative process rather than their daily situation, by promoting a form of "creative residency" at home.
Thanks to this grant, Africalia therefore awards 50 grants with a contribution of € 1,500 per artist (all disciplines combined), in its countries of intervention : Burkina Faso, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Uganda.
After several weeks of selection, more than 1,300 applications received, a jury made up of English and French speaking professionals from the cultural sector selected 50 candidates from the countries of intervention and from various disciplines (audiovisual, music, dance, theater, writing or even the visual arts).
The laureates will begin their "creation residency" at home from July 1 until the end of August. You will discover their creations at the end of the summer!
