The cultural field in Burundi is vast and covers a wide range of disciplines and stakeholders, both public and private (companies or associations). Generally, since the post-electoral crisis of 2015, it has been observed that the Burundian cultural field and other socio-economic sectors are experiencing significant difficulties.
In Burundi, Africalia collaborates with two organizations. One is called Menya Media, an association active in the music, audiovisual, and film sectors. The other, La Troupe Lampyre, brings together young people involved in the theatre sector. It organizes training courses, residencies, and a theatre festival Buja sans tabou, which has become a reference in Bujumbura.
