The main objective of Cinetoile was to encourage the promotion and distribution of African cinema in Africa.
This project, set up by Africalia and funded by the European Commission, took place for 3 years from 2009 to 2011. It was based on the principle that the prestigious works of African cinema status needs to be elevated and that these works need to be recognized as elements of cultural heritage and as tools for dialogue connecting African peoples.
The objectives of Cinetoile were:
Partner networking was the strategic alliance for the development of the Cinetoile project. The project partners come from various regions of the continent and actively promote African cinema. They complement one another through the diversity of their abilities and their cultures.
The partners join forces to implement a wide-ranging plan to screen African films and together develop a series of activities, seminars and meetings.
