The 33rd edition of the Festival International du Film Francophone (FIFF) will be held in Namur from September 28th to October 5th 2018. In addition to the 159 films scheduled for screening, the FIFF offers many other activities for young audiences or professionals in the sector. The FIFF and Africalia will collaborate for this 2018 edition. This allows some African guests to take part in the festival’s activities but also to organize Citizens’ Workshops for FIFF Campus.
(La Manufacture de Namur)
The Namur Manufacture is a workshop bringing together students and instructors from French film schools. Its aim is to help strengthen a genuine network of film schools in the French-speaking world and promote exchanges between students. The programme includes lessons in film and various encounters at which participants will receive practical advice for a more successful start to their journey as young film professionals.
Seven young film students between the ages of 18 and 25 from all over the French-speaking world have been invited to attend the Manufacture. They will be supervised by Isabelle Fauvel and Hakim Mao of Initiative Film (France). The students will also sit on the Émile Cantillon Jury, which will select the winner of the Bayard Award for the best first film.
Rhachida Moussa Maiga, a student at ISIS in Burkina Faso from Chad, will be attending the Manufacture thanks to the partnership between FIFF and Africalia.

(Le Forum de Namur)
From September 28th to October 1st, Palais des Congrès, Namur
The goal of the Namur Forum is to encourage the development and collaboration for a project from its very beginning. The Forum sets up a dialogue between the co-producers, which helps them align all the participants’ schedules and challenges.
Six projects for fiction films were selected. Their authors can draw inspiration from experienced makers to improve the quality and feasibility of their projects, concentrating on four aspects: development, writing, production and sales (marketing/distribution). The producer/author-director duos will present their projects during individual meetings and plenary sessions.
With Africalia’s support, experts will analyze "Moulaye" (Senegal), by Alassane Sy and produced by Baila Sy – Proxycom.
(Dans les traces de l’Atelier Grand Nord)
Every year, screenplay writers and experts from France, Belgium, Quebec, Switzerland and Luxemburg join for a week of workshops dedicated to the rewriting of screenplays. It is a delicate but crucial phase in the development of fiction films.
One of the participants is screenplay writer Idrissou Mora-Kpai from Benin.

With "Generation Talents!", FIFF wants to introduce twenty young Belgian or French speaking actors to agents and casting directors (from the French and Dutch speaking parts of Belgium, France and Quebec) and help them open up their career towards the international scene. The selected actors will go through a casting before a dozen French speaking agents and casting directors.
Maréme Ndiaye, a young Senegalese actrice, is one of the internationally selected actors.
FIFF selects different feature and short films with a strong and awareness directed message for students of all ages. After every viewing, the festival offers a number of different activities touching on the theme of the featured film. Through debates, interactive activities, workshops and testimonials, these animations aim to open up the dialogue and help the students develop a critical mind.
In 2018, the FIFF and Africalia (and other partners depending on the workshops) will put on different workshops.
