Dance Trust Zimbabwe (DTZ) is an umbrella organisation that includes several projects related to contemporary dance in Harare. The structure is comprised of the Tumbuka Dance Company ; the Outreach Project provides dance training access to young people from high-density suburbs ; the National Ballet ; and the Dance Foundation Course (DFC), which is Africalia’s main interest with DTZ.

The Dance Foundation Course is an intensive three-year contemporary dance training course based on a full-time and broad curriculum. Regular collaborations and productions with other dance groups and choreographers from the region are part and parcel of the educational program. Young men and women (15 people) with a keen interest in dance and performing arts take part and gear up to develop a professional career in contemporary dance. The good reputation of the DFC programme contributes to collaborations with Belgium, Israel, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa.

Programme 2012-2014 : Africalia’s main focus is on the Dance Foundation Course (DFC), offering dance and production skills to a group of 15 young dancers during 3 years.
