Multidisciplinary cultural venue, Les Halles de Schaerbeek capture and crystallise movements stemming right from the edges of art and society. It is an ideal space to create new performative formats, going beyond the classic partition between creators and spectators. Unconcerned with the barriers separating disciplines, willing to shake up the norms, Les Halles resonate with a desire for participation and involvement, be it individually or collectively, thus characterising the digital age.
As part of the partnership with Africalia and its Global Citizenship Education programme, Les Halles de Schaerbeek wish to invite young emerging artists and students of African art schools to take part in The gathering of April. This event, of which the first edition was held in 2017, encourages young people from different countries and continents to reflect, invent, share and create together on the basis of set themes and talks by thinkers. It is a mutual training mechanism, open to the public and encouraging participation from everyone.
