The artist

A few words about your artistic journey

My journey as a plural artist requires a good omnipresence of mastery. Because the latter allows you to move from music to humor, from dance to storytelling. My journey, although a great success, is above all a tree rooted in relentless work.

How long have you been an artist ?

Expressing this in 20 words illustrates the 20 years of the flowering of my passion. While my colleagues wrote on their slates, I strummed on my guitar.

Why did you apply for this grant ? How will the grant support you ?

This grant is an express springboard which will make it possible to say loudly to consumers and enthusiasts of the performing arts that the end of the world may exist but it will not come through the Covid channel.

What are your concrete artistic objectives after this residency ?

To make the built work a vector of reinforcement and restoration of the gaiety lost in the interior fort of the victims of the pileup due to the crisis.

Her residency

What did you achieve during this creative residency ? What is the result (created work) ? Who was involved in the creation process ?

We started our table work. We then set up a rehearsal space with a tarpaulin that we used as a stage, and a sheet frame to avoid contact with the outside and create a creative atmosphere and encourage the concentration of the storytelling actors on stage.

The performer is a flower that we must know how to water before it metamorphoses into a cactus. This means that the rule of a consistent play requires a vast concentration and mastery of the stage material in order to obtain an insightful rendering. In order to achieve this, the storytellers were entitled to a restoration in the morning in the afternoon.

Photographs and videos taken during rehearsals are recurrent for a good promotion and to see the evolution of the show from creation to performance.

Costume design and costume purchase are two divergent concepts. The scenography is only made of two wooden frames covered with black fabric and of two inserted walkways for a good visibility of the storytellers. This gives a "castelet and puppet" effect.

How do you think these activities contribute to a reflection on today’s world, in relation to the COVID-19 crisis, and/or on the shaping of the future ?

We pinned on everyday situations to show how much the world has changed. Starting with a description of today’s world, we noticed that the scourges that accompany Covid 19 all begin with the letter C : confinement, unemployment, crisis, nightmare, contagion, corona, mudslinging, chloroquine, calvary, contamination.

From this present world, we have been able to give our opinion on the new world where the earth can rest thanks to a break pollution of nature. It becomes useless to travel for job applications because everything happens virtually for example.

We made known how much man should not hate his neighbor, but try to find compromises so that this world, which belongs to all of us, is beneficial to both of us. The central word is mistrust. And through this theatrical tale, we want to make the world’s population reflect on the impact of the Covid on humanity so that everyone can assume their responsibility.

How did you feel during the residency ? And at the end of it ?

During the creation residency, we were very motivated and we even wanted to do hours and hours of rehearsals because we had so much imagination. Whether it was the technicians or the storytellers, everyone put their hand in to contribute to this work.

At the end of the creation residency, we designed projects and a show in progress, always in the style of a storytelling theater that we will present. The title has not yet been found but the content is already being written.

In spite of this, we have realized the work we wanted to present. We had several ideas after the creation of the show but we have noted them and we will try to add it during our tour of intervention theater.

We were surprised to see that the show caught the audience’s attention and made them think about the current health situation. At our second performance, we received a standing ovation from the General Delegate of Wallonie Bruxelles DRC.
