pansalogoPANSA is a network organisation that promotes the interests of performers, members, organisations in the performing arts (dance, music, theatre, musical theatre and opera). Africalia works in contact with the National Office, located in Cape Town, but reaches all the provincial offices through them.

Major Representative in the performing arts, PANSA provides training within the sector, engages in advocacy for performing arts from the political policy level to relationships with the private sector and relays a diversity of information of interest to members.

PANSA wishes to strengthen its representative role by extending its network of members, consolidating the provincial umbrella bodies, strengthening the regional chapters (in Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Gauteng provinces) on an institutional basis through job creation and targeted training. In addition PANSA, like VANSA, offers about 45 internships lasting 6 months to a year and runs an Internship Programme to allow PDIs (Previously Disadvantaged Individuals) to gain work experience with the regional chapters and member organisations.

The PANSA office in Eastern Cape Province began in 2014 the pilot project "Youth Theatre Project", an all-encompassing training for young people in the trade of theatermaking. The project reached over 100 youngsters and meticulously documented the experiences, culminating in the creation of this toolkit so the training model can be easily replicated in other provinces. Download here the PANSA Youth Theatre Project toolkit (pdf).

Programme 2015-2016 : Africalia supports core staff costs, the internships and training activities ; and aims to strengthen the associative, administrative and financial management of provincial offices.
