Africalia proudly invites you to the presentation of the photobook Des tambours sur l’oreille d’un sourd / Burundi by Teddy Mazina on Wednesday 29th of April 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Congress Hall of the House of Representatives.
This new book enriches the collection Africalia Editions [photo] and shows the work of this contemporary photographer from Burundi.
When he returned after many years of political exile in Belgium, Teddy Mazina decided to engage as a photographer with the democratic debate in Burundi. His photographs, which are always in black and white and combine simplicity with artistic excellence, have become an extraordinary archive of socio-political life in his country. Teddy is a memory activist : through this book he offers us images which are sometimes poignant and sometimes festive but above all shed light on the Burundi of today, still convalescing as it stands poised between hope and disappointment.
The book presentation will include a meeting with Teddy Mazina. At this occasion, a drink will be offered. It will also be the opportunity to buy the book and to discover the exhibition presenting a selection of photos from the book.
