2015 is the European Year for Development (EYD2015)and European Development Days (EDD15) will be its flagship event. The forum is an incubator of new ideas to inform our shared aim of a poverty-free, sustainable and fair world where everyone has a chance at a decent life. EDD15 shows Europe’s commitment to the eradication of global poverty.
EDD15 promises to be the most inclusive and dynamic edition yet. The programme includes over 130 sessions : high-level discussions, lab debates, brainstorming sessions and press conferences with breaking news. Gleaders, visionaries and experts on development cooperation will network with professionals from around the world. The Project Village will showcase innovative projects and reports that are solving the world’s most pressing challenges in new ways.
Africalia participates in the European Development Days (#EDD15) and organises 2 activities at Tour and Taxis in Brussels on the 3rd and 4th of June.
The subject of « culture and development » will be highlighted by concrete examples of programmes and practices and focuses on 3 themes : Youth and education in arts and cultural matters ; Freedom of expression through arts and culture ; the role of diaspora in the cultural development in host countries and countries of origin.
The subject will be discussed by a panel of experts, including : Blasko Smilevski (JMI), Frédéric Jacquemin (Africalia), Abdoulaye Diallo (Ciné droit libre), Sofie Leferink (HIVOS), Peter Rorvik (Arterial Network), Ken N’Diaye (L’Horloge du Sud) et Billy Kalonji (Mwinda Kitoko). Dive into the heart of culture in Africa. This audiovisual installation will beam you up into the creative univers of Burkina Faso. Two of Africalia’s partners, CDC-La termitière et le Cinéma Numérique Ambulant Afrique, will welcome you as part of their daily activities. They’ll immerse you into a dance rehearsal or a film projection in a village near Ouagadougou. You’ll discover a refreshing facet of the country that remained until now unknown to you.
EDD15 is free of charge and there are no limits to the number of delegates from each organisation. Our goal is to make EDD this June the most inclusive edition yet. All the information you need about EDD is available on www.eudevdays.eu.
