Expo CONGO EZA - 20/10 > 19/12, BTC, Brussels

BTC hosts in their lobby the Congo Eza exhibition. It can be visited from monday 20th October to friday 19th December 2014.

This travelling exhibition presents work by Congolese photographers based on a selection of photos from the book Congo Eza. The book brings together pictures token over 10 years by 25 photographers from Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Goma, Kisangani, Bukavu, etc. They capture the thousand and one everyday activities of the inhabitants of this huge country. In the street, at school, in compounds and at wedding celebrations, they have attempted to delineate their identity.

If the primary concern of the photographers is to show their social environment in the form of a report, for some of them, this approach goes far beyond ordinary reporting.

The exhibition aims to show how, by a specific artistic production work, these Congolese photographers reappropriate images in order to give them a special meaning through their own perceptions of the socio-cultural realities in which they are privileged witnesses. This exhibition adresses specifically photography amateurs and enthusiasts, interested in innovative approaches of Africa.
